Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, and character assassination directed at fellow artist, Saheed Osupa.

The arrest, which took place in Abeokuta on Saturday, followed a petition filed by Osupa accusing Portable of using abusive language capable of inciting violence and damaging his reputation. The police confirmed that an arrest warrant was obtained from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin before the operation.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Portable was taken to Ilorin for further investigation. His statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both sides, and he is currently in custody pending court proceedings.

The conflict reportedly began last month when one of Portable’s songs was removed from streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify over copyright infringement. Osupa’s team claimed Portable copied a phrase commonly associated with the Fuji singer, prompting legal action.

In response, Portable launched verbal attacks against Osupa online, calling him names like “big for nothing.” Although the singer later apologized and blamed his temper, the issue escalated to involve law enforcement
