Super falcons, Nigeria’s women national team, has climbed to eight position in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola women’s world ranking released after the 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The Falconet now occupy the 32nd place in the the world .

Their rise was due to their superlative performance at the just ended tournament in Australia.

The African nine-time champions were unbeaten at the group stage, they held the holding Olympic champions Canada to a 0-0 and beating co-hosts Australia 3-2.

However Super Falcons were eliminated 4-2 on penalties by The Three Lionesses of England in the last-16 in a duel that looks like the final of the tournament. It was a loss that remains painful considering the doggedness of the super falcons.

Nigeria super falcons remains the number one team in African continent followed by South Africa, Cameroon, Morocco and Ghana complete the top five teams in Africa.
