Tragedy struck in Lagos on Friday morning as a suspected drunk driver plowed into a group of soldiers during their routine physical training near Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu.

At least four soldiers are feared dead, while 32 others sustained injuries in the incident.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with blood everywhere, as the military community was thrown into panic. One soldier, who narrowly escaped, recounted, “I was spared because I was at the back.”

The vehicle reportedly carried three young men believed to be internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo Boys. After the crash, one of the occupants fled, while the other two were apprehended by enraged soldiers, beaten to a stupor, and their car vandalized.

The military is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
