The Nigerian government has given 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 state governments and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for distribution to Nigerians in need.

The decision was announced by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.

He emphasised that the rice was intended specifically for the most vulnerable groups of the people.

Idris emphasised the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to food.

The initiative, he said, is part of broader efforts to address food security challenges across the country, particularly in light of economic hardships exacerbated by various factors.

The distribution of the rice aims to alleviate food insecurity and support those most affected by economic strains, reflecting the government’s dedication to social welfare and support during challenging times, Idris said.
