Two men have been arrested by the Edo State Security Corps in connection with an alleged robbery at a human hair shop in the GRA area of Benin City, Edo State.

The suspects, identified as Ekobase and Okau, were reportedly arrested after security operatives reviewed CCTV footage from the shop and used technical intelligence to trace those allegedly involved in the robbery.

According to the security corps, the footage showed Ekobase allegedly wielding a gun, threatening workers at the shop before locking them inside an inner room.

Okau was reportedly captured removing more than 90 bundles of human hair from the premises, including wigs and other products said to be worth millions of naira.

Investigators also alleged that the suspects used a minibus painted in the state-approved colour to transport the stolen items.

Following their arrest, 35 bundles of human hair were reportedly recovered from the suspects.

The shop owner said the business had previously been targeted by suspected robbers, adding that efforts had been made to identify those responsible.

“My shop was robbed, and ever since then we’ve been on the lookout for the criminals, three guys and a lady. But we just got to hear that the Edo State Security Corps have found them, and we are more than thrilled,” the victim said.

The Acting Corps Commander, Richard Balogun, said the suspects had been questioned as part of the preliminary investigation.

He explained that the review of CCTV footage, combined with technical intelligence, enabled operatives to identify and locate the suspects.

The suspects and the recovered items have since been handed over to the Intelligence Rapid Response Team at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Benin City for further investigation and possible prosecution.
