Two Men Jailed over the Murder Of a Nigerian Man In Dublin

Two convicted drug dealers have been jailed in Ireland for their roles in a violent attack linked to the death of 34-year-old Nigerian man, Quaham Babatunde, who was fatally stabbed during a Valentine’s night out in Dublin.

Bruno Tache, 21, and Rory Carr, 22, pleaded guilty to affray and assault after violence erupted in the early hours of 15 February 2025 following an event at Club 22 on South Anne Street attended by about 400 people.

The court heard that Tache had been drinking heavily before he was thrown out of the club around 2 a.m. When his friends later came outside, he and Carr became involved in several street fights.

During the chaos, Babatunde was attacked and fatally stabbed by another suspect. Although Tache and Carr were not responsible for the stabbing, they also took part in the violence.

After Babatunde had been stabbed, Carr punched him several times while Tache kicked him in the head. Other victims were also assaulted during the disorder.

When told someone had d+ed, Carr told investigators: “I had nothing to do with this murder, I didn’t know anyone was stabbed, I didn’t see a knife… I heard it on the news the next morning and God rest his soul.”

Tache mostly remained silent but said: “I’ll be honest with you the clothes are gone, everything is gone after the lads were arrested.”

Both men had extensive criminal records and were on bail at the time. Judge Orla Crowe described the incident as involving “a huge amount of violence and lawlessness” before sentencing them to three years and six months in prison, with the final six months suspended.
