We Have No Business With APC — Kano NNPP Denies Kwankwaso Defection Rumour

Chairman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, Hashimu Dungurawa, has dismissed reports that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Wednesday, Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the APC, said Kwankwaso would soon return to the ruling party.

Ganduje said the NNPP is no longer a threat, adding that Kwankwaso, who leads the party, would be welcomed back to the APC.

However, speaking to journalists on Friday in Kano, Dungurawa said Kwankwaso does not need to consult anyone before making any political decision.

The Kano NNPP chairman said there are no plans by Kwankwaso to leave the party and described the speculation as “baseless and driven by desperation.”

“We have no business with APC and do not have any intention to defect,” Dungurawa said.

He added that the NNPP administration in Kano is gaining ground and restoring law and order in the state.

In 2024, Kwankwaso said he would win the 2027 presidential election, adding that the NNPP is ready to take over the presidency and states when the general elections are held.
