“We Killed And Dumped His Body in a Canal Before Demanding N150m ransom” – Suspects Reveals how They Murdered Their Former Schoolmates

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, confirmed the incident while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

According to the CP, preliminary investigations indicate that Thompson was returning from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 22, when the suspects, identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ogenata, 21, allegedly lured him to their apartment, where he was k!lled.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 29, the family recounted in harrowing details how the suspects abducted and k!lled Thompson before they demanded N150m ransom for his release.

The family, however, stated that contrary to the CP’s statement, the suspects killed the boy and dumped the body in a canal in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki before escaping to Ikorodu where they were eventually arrested.

According to the grieving family, Thompson left home on that fateful day to visit Elijah Hope Emmanuel, who had often invited him over.

The family grew increasingly worried when Thompson failed to return home and all efforts to reach him proved abortive as his phone was switched off.
