“We Stand With Him Even Beyond 2027″: Charismatic Bishops Endorse Tinubu

The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, declaring its support for his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement was announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, by the President-General of the conference, Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas, during the organisation’s 2026 Synod in Abuja.

Kawas said the bishops had reviewed the Tinubu administration, particularly its appointments and engagement with Christian leaders, and concluded that the President had demonstrated what he described as religious and regional balance.

“We are standing with him in prayers and advocacy,” Kawas said, adding that the bishops would continue to support Tinubu “as long as he’s willing to be our president” and seek re-election in 2027.

The conference also commended Tinubu over his administration’s policies and security efforts, while urging the government to continue engaging religious leaders in governance.

The development comes as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with religious, political and community groups increasingly declaring their preferred candidates.

The synod was attended by senior government officials, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris.
