We’ve Prevented Over 20 Attacks For Every One That Happened — Kogi Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, says the state government has consistently prevented multiple planned attacks through proactive intelligence and security measures.

Speaking on recent security concerns, Fanwo said the government has intensified efforts to protect worship centres and vulnerable rural communities, following credible intelligence pointing to possible attacks.

“We are doing a lot to protect worship centers, to protect communities in the rural areas. We have a lot of intel that had to do with attack on worship centers,” he said.

Fanwo disclosed that the state governor recently convened a high-powered security council meeting involving religious leaders, where security tips and intelligence were shared to forestall threats. According to him, the move helped avert incidents similar to recent attacks recorded elsewhere.

“It is not about, you know, let me tell you something. For every incident that happened, the Kogi State government had averted more than 20 that would have happened,” he stated.

He added that the government is “investing heavily” in security logistics and deploying personnel to the most affected areas, but urged residents to take personal precautions.

“We are protecting these people, we are providing enough security in rural areas. But at the same time, we should also be very conscious of the fact that we also have roles to play by avoiding places that will make us vulnerable,” Fanwo said.

The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining statewide security interventions to safeguard lives and property.
