A woman identified as Khadijat has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Ramatu, to death following a disagreement in Ijoka community, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, while members of the family were in the bush harvesting palm kernels.
The arrest was confirmed by a presenter with Ankpa Radio-Television in a video shared on Sunday, August 23.
Recounting the incident in an earlier video, the women’s husband, Jibrin, said he received a distress call around 4pm about an incident involving his wives and other members of the family.
According to him, Ramatu raised an alarm and cried for help during the alleged attack.
Her cries reportedly alerted other family members who were harvesting palm kernels in another part of the bush.
Jibrin said the family members attempted to make their way towards the location but were allegedly stopped by Khadijat, who warned them against entering the area, claiming it was unsafe.
By the time they reached the spot, he said, Khadijat had reportedly fled.
Ramatu was subsequently found with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to her husband.
Jibrin said subsequent circumstances surrounding the incident led the family to suspect Khadijat of involvement in the killing.
He disclosed that the two women had a disagreement several weeks before the incident but said the family did not anticipate that the dispute would escalate into violence.
Jibrin further alleged that Khadijat may have continued to harbour resentment over the earlier disagreement before the confrontation turned fatal.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing are expected to be investigated by the relevant authorities as the case progresses.
