A domestic dispute over alcohol money between two lovers has escalated into a serious criminal matter involving both assault and arson allegations in Mncitsini, Swaziland.

32-year-old Nosipho Motsa, is accused of setting her boyfriend Nkosingiphile Hleta’s flat alight following an argument that reportedly turned violent.

The fire destroyed property and nearly ended in tragedy after Motsa allegedly locked herself inside the burning flat in an apparent attempt to take her own life.

Neighbours intervened and forced entry to rescue her.

The incident is said to have been preceded by an earlier confrontation.

Hleta, 43, is accused of assaulting Motsa during the same dispute that later escalated into the fire.

Both appeared in court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
