World Celebrates Cancer Day With “Theme” I Am And I Will.

Every 4th of February is celebrated as World Cancer Day with the aims of creating awareness and prevention of Cancer.

This day people comes together to put a stop to the injustice and stigmatization put on the sufferers of cancer.  People should realize that being diagnosed of cancer is not a Death sentence.

Going for screening regularly will help in early detection. This will also help in early treatment. Watching our lifestyle as regards what we eat or drink will ameliorate risks of developing cancer.

The government should equip our hospital with modern facilities for screening and also subsidize it so that the common citizens will afford it. NGOs should also help in free breast and cervical cancer screening.

In developed nations letters are sent out to homes where an adult women lives to come for free screening. I benefitted from such two years old. But is not so in developing countries like Nigeria.

More awareness is needed to enlighten our rural dwellers on the need to go for early screening.

World Cancer Day aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer, and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.
