You’re Embarrassing Yoruba Leaders –  Wike’s Aide tells Bode George 

A media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a fresh attack on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George, urging him to stop what he described as conduct that brings embarrassment to the Yoruba race.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the former PDP Deputy National Chairman should exhibit the maturity expected of an elder statesman rather than engaging in public attacks against younger politicians.

Olayinka said George, who served as the military governor of the old Ondo State in 1988, should “borrow a bit of maturity” from his contemporaries and “stop embarrassing himself and the Yoruba race by persistently dancing naked in the marketplace of politics.”

He also questioned Bode George’s political influence in Lagos State, alleging that the PDP has failed to win his polling unit since 1999 despite his leadership role in the party.

According to Olayinka, while the PDP has produced governors in states such as Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Osun, the party has remained politically irrelevant in Lagos under George’s watch.

The presidential aide further urged the PDP stalwart to conduct himself in a manner befitting his age, stressing that respect for elders in Yoruba culture is earned through dignified conduct.

The latest exchange comes amid an escalating war of words between Bode George and Wike, following the PDP chieftain’s criticism of the FCT minister over political and governance issues.
