Yusuf Buhari Declares Interest in House of Reps Seat

Yusuf Buhari, son of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, marking his first foray into active politics.

He is seeking to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua federal constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party widely regarded as dominant in the region.

The declaration has generated interest within political circles, particularly in Katsina, a longstanding APC stronghold and the home state of the late former president. Yusuf’s move is seen as a significant development within the party’s local structure ahead of upcoming primaries.

The announcement was disclosed in a statement shared on X by Bashir Ahmad, who noted that the decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency, including party leaders, elders, and influential figures.

According to party sources, the consultations were conducted discreetly over time, with meetings held across the three local government areas to gauge support and build consensus before going public.

The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency has historically leaned heavily toward the APC, making the party’s primary election a critical battleground for aspirants.

Despite formally declaring his ambition, Yusuf Buhari has yet to unveil a detailed campaign strategy or manifesto, and no official timeline has been announced for his campaign activities.
