The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for several State and National Assembly contests across five states.

The party announced the timetable in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.

The primaries will cover four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.

In Delta State, the affected restored constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is the affected constituency in Kogi State.

For the bye-elections, the APC listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

The party said the timetable followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies following relevant court judgments.

The affected constituencies had remained without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly for several years.

According to the APC schedule, the sale of expression-of-interest and nomination forms began on August 18 and will close on August 20. Completed forms and accompanying documents must also be submitted by August 20.

The party will conduct the screening of aspirants, publish screening results and handle screening appeals on August 21, a day before the primaries.

Election appeals arising from the exercise are scheduled for August 24.

For State House of Assembly aspirants, the APC fixed the expression-of-interest fee at ₦1 million and the nomination fee at ₦5 million, bringing the total to ₦6 million.

House of Representatives aspirants are required to pay ₦1 million for the expression-of-interest form and ₦9 million for nomination, amounting to ₦10 million.

The party, however, approved a concession for female, youth and physically challenged aspirants, who are to pay the full expression-of-interest fee but 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee.

The APC directed aspirants to make payments in full into its designated bank account.

The Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency election is among the contests covered by the timetable. The seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
