Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has denied reports suggesting he is set to resign from office, describing the claim as false.
The clarification comes amid fresh speculation reported on April 22, 2026, that the minister could step down in the coming days.
However, his Special Adviser on Media, Bolaji Tunji, dismissed the reports, insisting that Adelabu remains in office and continues to carry out his duties.
“The minister has not resigned.
The letter making the rounds did not emanate from his office,” the aide said, describing the circulating claims as misleading.
Earlier rumours had linked the alleged resignation to Adelabu’s possible political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, following a directive for appointees seeking elective office to step down.
However, no official communication from the presidency or the Ministry of Power has confirmed any resignation.
As of press time, Adelabu remains Nigeria’s substantive Minister of Power.
The development highlights ongoing misinformation risks in Nigeria’s political space, where unverified reports (especially regarding high-level appointments) can quickly gain traction without official confirmation.
